RECLAIM YOUR BODY & SPIRIT
We're thrilled to announce our 2023-24 Season, which will be helmed by Black female and fem-identifying playwrights presenting new works centered in hope, healing, and self-care. Made possible by LHT’s NEW BLACK VOICES MENTORSHIP PROGRAM, this season will see the development of new works through workshops and play-readings, and culminate in fully-realized staged productions at the Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture.
“I am filled with excitement, anticipation, and awe at the sheer talent of these powerful Black theater-makers, whose unique voices and vision will soon come roaring to life on our stage,” says Lorraine Hansberry Theatre’s Artistic Director Margo Hall. “The work of sharing our stories and celebrating our history has never been more important. This season, we will carry forward our company’s mission, empower Black creatives, and deliver for our community.”

ABOUT NEW BLACK VOICES
LHT’s New Black Voices Mentorship Program remains central to the company’s mission of uplifting Black female and fem-identifying playwrights, by offering opportunities to develop new works or to showcase them live to new audiences.
Currently, the New Black Voices Advisory Board includes Lydia Diamond, Nambi E. Kelley, Dominique Morisseau, and Lisa B. Thompson. The advisory board assists with the selection process of new mentees and the personalized structure for mentorships while serving as mentors within the program.
