On July 22, 2011, Lorraine Hansberry Theatre held the first public event in our new theatre, located at 450 Post Street, in the heart of Union Square. Young professionals from the region flocked to the theartre for cocktails and hors d'oeuvre, guided tours of the theatre, and a preview of Blue/Orange by Joe Penhall, which will be presented on our stage in February.

LHT Ambassadors, April Fame and Melissa Mendez planned the event, with help from our Artistic Director Steven Anthony Jones, and our General Manager, Shirley Howard-Johnson. April, Melissa and Shirley were on hand, as well as LHT Community Relations Board Chair, Nafeesa Ahmad-Bey, and office personnel, Jessica Baldwin and Marc Pâquette.
